Centenary of Revolutionary Martyr Kang Kon's Birth Marked
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the Central Youth Hall on Friday to commemorate the centenary of birth of revolutionary martyr Kang Kon.

Present there were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Pak Kwang Ho and Choe Hwi, vice-chairmen of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Jon Kwang Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ryang Won Ho, director of the Party History Institute of the C.C., WPK, members of the C.C, WPK, officials of ministries and national institutions, officials of institutions and industrial establishments in Pyongyang and persons of merit.

Born into a poor peasant's family in Sangju, North Kyongsang Province on June 23, Juche 7 (1918), Kang Kon keenly experienced the sorrow and pain of a stateless nation. So, he embarked on the revolutionary struggle in his early years.

Army General No Kwang Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, said in a report at the meeting:

The revolutionary life of anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter Kang Kon was the brilliant one of a hot-blooded fighter who remained loyal to the idea and cause of the Party and the leader with the unshakable faith.

With the iron will that the Korean revolution led by President Kim Il Sung is sure to win in any grim ordeals, he undauntedly fought and unconditionally and thoroughly implemented the leader's line, policy, order and instructions, accepting them as an absolute truth.

The single-minded devotion of the fighter who always went straight ahead along the road indicated by the President is a paragon to be followed by all of us, and the life of Kang, who cherished the fixed revolutionary faith for trusting and following his leader only and remained loyal to the idea and cause of the Party, will go down in the history of the country.

The reporter underscored the need to devotedly defend the Party Central Committee led by the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un by carrying forward the tradition of loyalty created in the forest of Mt Paektu and share the intension, breath and step with the Party Central Committee under any circumstances.

He called for pushing ahead with the grand march for economic construction in the spirit of self-reliance and by dint of science and technology so as to revitalize the economy and bring about a turn in the improvement of the people's standard of living in the shortest period, true to the spirit of the April Plenary Meeting of the Party Central Committee.
