Japan Urged to Be Honest
|

Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- Prime Minister of Japan Abe recently said that "the next is his turn and he would sit face-to-face with north Korea to resolve major pending issues and he expects a big decision by north Korea over the issue of abduction." Commenting on it, Rodong Sinmun Friday says: Until quite recently, Abe talked rubbish that "dialogue for dialogue is meaningless and dialogue with north Korea is abnormal itself". But he suddenly made a U-turn and is talking about DPRK-Japan summit to the public surprise. As for the "issue of abductees", it had already been settled completely in 2002 on the occasion of the then prime minister's visit to Pyongyang and the publication of the historic DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration. The "issue of abductees" much touted by the Japanese authorities is just the issue for which the DPRK has to reprimand Japan. It is because the Korean nation is the biggest victim of the state-sponsored abduction and terrorism by Japan. Japan's ulterior motive is to paint itself as a "victim" to cover up its true colors as an assailant who committed hideous crimes in the past, impair the high international prestige of the DPRK and gloss over the atonement for the crimes committed against the Korean nation and thus avoid the settlement of Japan's past. However, Japan should clearly know that there will never be the repair of relations between the DPRK and Japan without the solution of the fundamental issue. If the authorities of Japan, an island country, really want to visit Pyongyang, they have to be honest and responsible in the light of history and boldly drop their anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK. |
