The contest was divided into the occupations of welder, pipe-maker, casting worker and plasterer. It served as an important occasion in decisively improving the level of technique and skill of the working people as required by the age of knowledge-based economy and encouraging them to perform unprecedented innovations by guaranteeing quality and speed in production and construction on the highest level in all sectors and units of the national economy.

A closing ceremony of the contest of welders and pipe-makers took place at the Central Hall of Workers on Friday

Present there were O Su Yong, vice-chairman of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, officials from commissions, ministries and national institutions, and those of institutions and enterprises in Pyongyang, labor innovators, the participants in the contest and working people.

Earlier, closing ceremonies of the contests of casting workers and plasterers were held in Anju and Wonsan.
