Felix Jesus Velasquez Castillo, general coordinator of the Federal Political Secretariat of the United Left Party of Venezuela and chairman of the Venezuelan Solidarity Committee for Korea's Peace and Reunification, and Omar Lopez, chairman of the Venezuelan National Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, were elected co-chairmen of the remembrance committee.

The committee decided to organize political and cultural events praising the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Il Sung who made a distinguished contribution to the accomplishment of the cause of human independence on the occasion of July 8, the 24th anniversary of his demise.
