V-Day Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- The 65th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War was significantly celebrated in the DPRK. People visited the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il lie in state, to pay tribute to the portraits of the smiling great leaders. Servicepersons, working people and school youth and children called at the martyrs' statues and cemeteries and the memorial towers for the fallen soldiers of the Korean People's Army and martyrs' graves across the country to pay tribute to the victors in the great years. Art performances were given in Pyongyang and localities to celebrate the V-Day. Artistes of the National Symphony Orchestra put on the stage orchestra "Cantata to Marshal Kim Il Sung", string ensemble "The Leader Has Come to Our Post", orchestras "Mungyong Pass" and "July 27 March" and other numbers. Those of the Phibada Opera Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe gave their performances before the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and at the Ponghwa Art Theatre, revving up the festive atmosphere. Circus and magic performances were given at the Pyongyang Circus Theater and the jugglery theatre of the National Acrobatic Troupe and a one-act play at the National Theatre. Celebration performances of provincial art troupes and art squads were given in North and South Phyongan, Jagang, South Hamgyong and other provinces. There was also a stage of wartime songs performed by workers and trade union members of South Hwanghae Province. |
