Mohammed Shaban Azzooz, director of the Department of Workers and Farmers of the Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party who is a member of its Regional Leadership, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee set a celebration period from July 25 to Sept. 11 and decided to organize colorful political and cultural events in praise of feats performed by President Kim Il Sung, leader Kim Jong Il and the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in founding and strengthening the DPRK in the period.
