It will bring together more than 2,000 players selected from universities and colleges throughout the country. They will compete in the football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, Taekwon-Do, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming and other sports events.

Present at the opening ceremony were Yang Myong Gyu, vice-chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and university students.
