Barrages and Dams Conducive to Preventing Drought Damage
Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- Barrages and dams built along the Taedong River are proving their worth in the DPRK where high temperature and drought linger on.

The West Sea, Mirim and Ponghwa barrages, dams of the Taedonggang and Namgang power stations and other barrages and dams, which were built in tiers along the river and its tributary streams under the grand nature-remaking plan of the Workers' Party of Korea, are playing a big role in watering croplands and supplying water to industrial establishments and populated areas.

Now, those barrages and dams store enough water.

The Taedonggang flood-control headquarters comprising officials and researchers of the State Hydro-meteorological Administration, the ministries of Electric Power Industry, Agriculture and Posts and Telecommunications and scientific research institutions are taking due measures on the basis of scientific analysis of weather forecasts and real-time information on water levels at barrages and dams.
