In the darkest period of Japanese imperialist rule, President Kim Il Sung set forth the unique line of armed struggle from the independent viewpoint that the Korean people should carry out the Korean revolution to suit the specific conditions of their country by their own efforts, and led the anti-Japanese armed struggle to victory.

The experience, gained from the armed struggle based on guerilla warfare created during the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, formation of the anti-Japanese national united front and combination of the armed struggle with mass struggle, had made great contribution to the struggle of the oppressed nations of the world for sovereign independence.

A world culture meeting held in Cuba in January Juche 57 (1968) adopted the document titled "The anti-Japanese armed struggle of the Korean people launched under the guidance of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung", which suggested that the experience gained in the struggle be the strategy and tactics of the struggle of Asian, African and Latin American peoples for their national liberation against imperialism.

Former Mozambican President Samora Moises Machel, who received precious teachings on the armed struggle from President Kim Il Sung and finally put an end to the imperialists' colonial rule over Mozambique and achieved its independence, at a meeting celebrating the victory in the national liberation struggle said that as the great hero Comrade Kim Il Sung illumined the way ahead of the Mozambican people, they could cut off the chains hogtieing them and their ancestors and get rid of the lot of colonial salves.

Now, the world progressives celebrate August 15, the day of historic significance in accomplishing the Korean revolution and the human cause of independence, as their common holiday.
