C. P. Mainali, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) and former deputy prime minister of Nepal, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to give wide publicity through media to the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il for building an independent state, the personality of the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un steering the world politics as a peerlessly great man and the achievements being made by the Korean army and people under his guidance and conduct diverse political and cultural events in the period from August 7 to September 15.
