Lawmaker Amalia Alexandr, international secretary of the Women's Organization of Angola, was elected chairperson of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee set a celebration period from Aug. 15 to Sep. 10 and decided to hold colorful political and cultural events to praise the exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il for the Korean revolution and the global cause of independence and give publicity to the reality of the DPRK making a leap forward under the wise guidance of the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un during the period.
