Japanese Authorities Hit for Suppression of Koreans in Japan
Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- A south Korean body called the Citizens' Group for Defending the Korean Schools and Children reportedly held a press conference in Seoul on August 10 to publish an international declaration condemning the Japanese authorities' suppression of Koreans in Japan.

The Japanese government is still pursuing a policy of discrimination against the Koreans in Japan, far from making an apology and atonement for its colonial rule over Korea in the past, the speakers charged.

They expressed resentment at the base act of the Japanese authorities excluding only Korean schools from the application of the tuition-free program for senior high schools.

Noting more than 1 110 peace-loving people in the world and Koreans in the U.S., Germany and Australia signed the international declaration protesting against the discriminative policy of the Japanese authorities, they said they would carry on their struggle until the Japanese authorities include the Korean schools in the list of the application of the tuition-free program.

The international declaration protesting the Abe regime's suppression of Koreans and schools in Japan was published there.

The declaration said that the Japanese government killed a little boy at the end of its massive suppression of the national education of Koreans in Japan in 1948, and though 70 years have passed since the killing, it still pursues the suppression.

Exposing the criminal act of the Japanese custom authorities who confiscated the souvenirs of Korean school students in Japan who came back after visiting the homeland, the declaration expressed resentment at the human rights abuse.

As the Korean schools are institutions for national education built by the Koreans who were taken to Japan during Japan's colonial rule over Korea, it deserves the protection by the Japanese government, it noted.

Noting that solidarity struggle will be waged for the rights of compatriots, the declaration urged the Japanese authorities to make an apology for the past colonial rule over Korea, lift the hostile policy and the policy of sanctions against the north, halt the suppression of the Koreans in Japan and apply the tuition-free program to the Korean schools in Japan.
