Hot Spring, Natural Resources

Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- There are many hot springs good for health and medical treatment in the DPRK. Typical of them are Paektu Hot Spring with a special virtue for chronic bronchitis and neuralgia, hot springs in Yangdok County of South Phyongan Province which are good for pharmacological action and remedial efficacy and rich in sulfur content and extremely low in radon content and highly chloric Ongjin Hot Spring specially efficacious for digestive troubles. The hot spring resources abundant in the country are associated with the great efforts dedicated by the peerlessly great men to the wellbeing of the people. After the liberation of Korea from Japan's colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung took measures to search and develop all mineral spring resources in the country and build rest centers and sanatoria for the people in the areas of mineral and hot springs and those with fresh water and air. On his way for field guidance, leader Kim Jong Il saw a hot well and saw to it that its area was turned into a cultural recreation ground for the people. When walking round Hwangjin Hot Spring in a village of North Hamgyong Province in September Juche 98 (2009), he underscored the need to let much more people get the benefit of the spring. During his recent field guidance to the hot spring area in Yangdok County of South Phyongan Province, the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un visualized the plan to spruce up the area as a comprehensive and modern model spa, a tourist and cultural destination for the people. |
