Production Increases in Tanchon Area
Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- Mines and industrial establishments in the Tanchon area of the DPRK have made noteworthy achievements in production through a dynamic drive to attain the goals of the five-year strategy for national economic development.

Om Jin Su, vice-general director of the General Bureau of the Tanchon Area Mining Industry, told KCNA that the Tanchon area is of great significance in developing the national economy and improving the standard of people's living.

He went on:

The Taehung Youth Hero Mine has increased the varieties of second- and third-stage processed light-burned magnesia products and improved their quality.

The Ryongyang and Paekbawi mines have ensured the operation of mining facilities on a normal basis and introduced advanced blasting methods, thus raising their mineral output 1.2 times as compared with the same period of last year. And they are boosting the production of quality light-burned magnesia and magnesia clinker.

The Komdok Mining Complex has increased the lead and zinc production, while the April 5, Yonggwang and other pits of the Kumgol Mine giving precedence to preparatory and capital tunneling to keep the mineral production going at a high rate.

The Tanchon Magnesia Factory has improved the technical management of kilns to augment per-kiln output and ensure the quality of light-burned magnesia, magnesia clinker and different refractories as required by the state standards.

Increased production has also been witnessed at the Tanchon Mining Machine Factory, the Tanchon Smeltery and the Ryongchon Mine where the collective innovation gains momentum.

Leader Kim Jong Il visited again the Tanchon Magnesia Factory and the Taehung Youth Hero Mine and the Ryongyang Mine in October Juche 100 (2011), the last year of his life, to indicate the shortcut to the revitalization of production.
