It is the first-born university of agriculture which was founded and developed under the care of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and a distinguished one which contributed to the development of the country's agriculture and training of agricultural sci-tech talents.

President Kim Il Sung chose a suitable place as the site of the university and made sure that it was founded as the first university of agriculture for the people on September 1, Juche 37 (1948), and inspected it several times, wisely leading it to train many sci-tech talents who would shoulder the socialist rural construction.

Chairman Kim Jong Il paid deep attention to the work of the university, led it to improve education and scientific research, as required by the developing reality, personally visited it and highly praised the exploits of its teaching staff. He repeatedly sent modern apparatuses for experiment and practice.

For the past 70 years since its foundation, the university has developed into a prestigious university and a center for agricultural scientific research which systematically trains agricultural sci-tech talents, true to the line and policy of the Workers' Party of Korea.

A meeting took place on Friday to mark the anniversary.

It was attended by Pak Thae Song, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, teaching staff students of the university.
