Massacre of Koreans in Japan in Great Kanto Quake Recollected in Tokyo
Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- Koreans in Japan held a memorial service before the monument to Korean victims of the great Kanto quake in Tokyo on Sept. 1 as regards the fact that 95 years have passed since the Japanese imperialists inflicted death and suffering upon the innocent Koreans in the wake of the quake.

Attending the service were Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), Ko Tok U, chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Headquarters of Chongryon, senior officials of the central organizations and affiliates, compatriots and students, and personages of the Japanese civic and social organizations including a deputy representative of the Tokyo Ward Assemblymen's Liaison Society for the Promotion of Japan-Korea Friendship.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the victims who were brutally killed by the Japanese imperialists after the quake.

Ko Tok U made a memorial address.

Saying that the massacre of Koreans in Japan after the great Kanto quake is an unforgettable incident in history of long-pent up grudge, he stressed that it is a massacre stipulated in international law as well as a crime against humanitarism.

He said that 95 years have passed since the massacre occurred but the Japanese authorities are concealing and ignoring even a historic fact of the massacre, far from making an apology and reparation for the Koreans in Japan who were killed.

Speeches were made there.

The participants laid bouquets and flowers at the monument.
