Rodong Sinmun said in one of its editorials that the September 9, 1948 proclamation of the DPRK by President Kim Il Sung was a historic milestone in building a people-centred socialist state under a unique programme.

The editorial went on:

The seven decades of the DPRK can be called a heroic epic adorned with brilliant victory and changes, all of which have been achieved in the teeth of unprecedented trials and difficulties.

The outcome of the glorious history is the emergence on Korean soil of a socialist state centred on the masses of the people, i.e., a country in which the people are regarded with absolute respect.

In the course of this long history the DPRK has become the world's strongest political and military giant, thereby providing a sure guarantee for the independent life of its people and eternal prosperity of the generations to come.

It can be counted as a proud success that the country has acquired an inexhaustible power of self-development to realize the people's dreams and ideals in an all-round way.

The 70 years of the country constitute the glorious revolutionary history of the peerlessly great leaders, whom the Korean people had for the first time in their 5 000-year history, the nation blessed with leaders generation after generation.

President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il regarded the people-first principle as their life-long motto, maintaining this principle of prioritizing, respecting and loving them throughout the course of building up the state.

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has opened up a new phase in carrying out the cause of building this people-centred socialist state, as it is associated with the sacred careers of the great leaders.

It is the truth taught by the history of the DPRK that only when they remain faithful to their leader's ideology and leadership can the people enjoy a dignified and happy life.
