Koryo Medical Classic "Hyangyakchaechwiwolryong"
Pyongyang, September 20 (KCNA) -- "Hyangyakchaechwiwolryong", one of Koryo medical classics, is a book dealing with the collection periods of medical herbs in Korea and their processing.

Yu Hyo Thong, Ro Jung Rye and Pak Yun Dok edited its first volume in 1431 as part of the preparations for compiling the medicinal herb part of "Hyangyakjipsongbang".

The manuscript was lost and its copy has been preserved.

Written in the book are names of over 100 botanical Koryo medicines in Ridu words (Chinese characters used for their sound values to write Korean particles) and their properties, tastes, periods of collection, methods of processing, etc.

After the issue of the book, it was considered as a reference for Koryo medicine collectors and underlay the medicinal herb part of "Hyangyakjipsongbang".

Its written copy still serves as data for the research into Koryo pharmacy as well as the study of the history of Korean language.
