South-South Cooperation Ensures Independence and Prosperity: Newspaper

Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Developing countries should engage in intensified south-south cooperation in order to achieve independence and prosperity, says Rodong Sinmun in an article Saturday. The article goes on: The south-south cooperation is, in essence, the cooperation among the peoples of developing countries who achieved political independence to gain economic independence and sovereignty. The old and unfair international economic order of the past century is still lingering. The developed countries persist in keeping the current economic order which is favorable to them. They seek to fatten their pockets by neo-colonizing the developing countries. The imperialists are intensifying economic invasion and plunder against the developing countries by using "aid" as a decoy. The south-south cooperation should be scaled up to get rid of exploitation and plunder by the imperialists and achieve economic independence. The developing countries have adequate conditions for boosting the south-south cooperation. They have, of course, differences in language, religious belief, race and social system. But they have some common points in their socio-historic status, level of development and aspiration. The developing countries entered the road of building a new society after achieving independence and liberation from the colonial rule by outside aggressors in the past. They are to clear the aftermath of the colonial rule as they aspire after social progress and independent development. Now the imperialists are obstructing the progress of the developing countries, concerning themselves about the nearing age when the developing countries would greatly influence the global economic development. That is why the developing countries should further their south-south cooperation. Then, the creation of a new world of justice where all enjoy prosperity will be hastened. |
