The Supreme Leader, possessed of noble compatriotism and fixed will to reunify the country, opened a new phase for the development of inter-Korean relations and peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula with his distinguished political ability.

He attached importance to the interests of the country and the nation and united all Koreans as one under the banner of the great unity of the whole nation with his prominent idea and outstanding leadership.

He brought a dramatic change to the situation of the Korean peninsula through the proactive and sincere, new policy of improving the north-south relations and the continuous exceptional measures based on it.

In the historic speech on April 15, 2012, he solemnly declared that the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government would join hands with anyone who truly wants the reunification of the country and the peace and prosperity of the nation and make responsible and patient efforts for the historic cause of national reunification.

He provided the Panmunjom declaration with the resolute decision for national reunification and made indefatigable efforts so that the historic start at Panmunjom led to practical reconciliation, peace and prosperity free from long-standing mistrust and confrontation.

As a result, the north and the south of Korea could achieve valuable successes such as reunion of separated families and relatives, the opening of a joint liaison office, the basketball games for reunification and football games of workers for reunification despite persistent obstructions of the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad.

That's why, over the 5th north-south summit, an exciting event to be recorded in the history of the nation, the people from all walks of life in the south have praised the Supreme Leader as a "really admirable and excellent person", "the person of enterprising spirit with the sense of the times" and "the person arousing deep emotion, happiness and honor".

All Koreans with new infinite vitality are further dynamically driving the engine of history which departed from Panmunjom toward independent reunification.
