Presented at the symposium on the theme of "Development of Science and Promotion of Welfare of Human Being" were more than 140 papers of great academic value reflective of advanced sci-tech research achievements and experience.

Its opening ceremony was held at Kim Il Sung University on Wednesday.

Present there were Chairman of the Education Commission Kim Sung Du, President of Kim Il Sung University and Minister of Higher Education Thae Hyong Chol, teachers and researchers of the university and scholars from educational and scientific research institutes of China, Russia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Germany, France, Britain, Italy and other countries.

In his opening address, Thae Hyong Chol said that the symposium would be greatly helpful to the promotion of human being's welfare.

Congratulatory speeches were made by Kim Sung Du and Managing Vice-President Gui Yonghao of China's Fudan University and President Ya Tumurbaatar of National University of Mongolia.

The symposium was held, divided into such sections as social science, medicine and life science, forestry science and eco-environmental protection and agriculture.

Speakers in their papers explained and proved scholarly subjects.

A letter to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un was adopted at the closing ceremony on Thursday.

Kim Il Sung University hosted a reception for the participants in the symposium.
