The eye-opening event, which is of epoch-making significance in achieving peace, prosperity and independent reunification on the Korean Peninsula, is greatly encouraging the movement of the Korean nation for reunification of the country.

The "September Pyongyang Joint Declaration" is a landmark for national reunification to further accelerate the development of the inter-Korean relations and open up a new heyday of national reconciliation, unity, peace and prosperity by honestly and fully implementing the Panmunjom declaration in keeping with the aspiration and demand of all Koreans.

Every paragraph of the declaration is run through with the spirit of national independence and unity indicative of the self-determination of the Korean nation and the strong desire for peace and reunification.

Clarified in the declaration are clear measures and ways for radically removing the hostile relations between the north and the south, developing many-sided cooperation and exchange and making the Korean Peninsula a peace zone.

Whether the north-south relations put on a new track of peace, reconciliation and cooperation will be decisively developed or not totally hinges on the will and efforts of the north and the south.

This year has witnessed such precious achievements optimizing about peace, prosperity and future of reunification as the three rounds of north-south summits and talks and the adoption of the April 27 declaration and the "September Pyongyang Joint Declaration". All the achievements clearly prove that if the north and the south pool their will and idea and make sincere efforts with respect for and trust in each other, they would surely bring good fruitions.
