Thanks to his party-building idea and guidance, the WPK could develop into the powerful revolutionary party with the hardest groundwork and the most prestigious revolutionary party leading the socialist construction to victory.

Notably, the days when he led our revolution as general secretary of the WPK hold a brilliant place in its history. In the grim period decisive in the destiny of the country and its people, he developed WPK into the powerful guiding force of the Juche revolution under the unfurled banner of Songun and enhanced the leading role of the Party in every way, winning one victory after another in the fierce struggle for defending socialism and opening up a broad avenue to the country's prosperity.

Minju Joson says in an editorial that as Kim Jong Il was upheld as general secretary of the WPK, the brilliant tradition of the WPK which took an every-victorious road has been given steady continuity and a sure guarantee for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche provided.
