Speeches were made at the event on the subject of Clean hands are secret of health.

Speakers said that hand-washing plays an important role in ensuring food security and preventing diseases, noting that a large number of children are suffering from pneumonia and diarrhea worldwide every year.

They stressed the need to ensure better hygienic conditions and environment at health sectors, homes and catering establishments, to say nothing of child care and education institutions, and help people make hand-washing a part of their life and habit, well aware of hand-washing method.

After a lecture on hand-washing and health, the participants saw schoolchildren washing their hands and enjoyed a Korean cartoon film.

Also, there was an inaugural ceremony of a gravity-fed water supply establishment, which was built in Rakwon County with cooperation of UNICEF, on the same day to mark Global Handwashing Day.
