Enthusiasm for Riding Grows in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- Enthusiasm for riding is growing in the DPRK as the days go by. The comprehensive and modern Mirim Riding Club was built in the outskirts of Pyongyang in October Juche 102 (2013), making the cultural and emotional life of the Korean people more diversified. In this regard, Ri Tong Jun, secretary general of the Korean Equestrian Association, told KCNA: The number of amateur riders has grown for the last five years amid the growing public interests in riding. The juvenile extracurricular horse riding course attracts young amateurs at the age of 12-15. Through 6 months-long theoretical and practical training course at the room for dissemination of riding knowledge, they learn about how to keep and ride horse. Best trainees have been qualified for the horse rider during four rounds of courses. Many schoolchildren and citizens frequent the room to get knowledge about horse like the physiological characteristics of horse and the world trend of horsemanship development. Any applicant can acquire the membership of the Equestrian Association and its number is on the steady increase. The autumn amateur riders competition was sponsored by the association at the Mirim Riding Club on Oct. 7 and 14. Members of the association and amateurs showed their excellent skills at the competition in which even children were seen to be kind to horses. Meanwhile, a horse rider of the club cleared 1.45 meter-high obstacle at the show jumping to be applauded by spectators. Many people at home, overseas Koreans and foreigners have visited the club. |
