Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- A workshop took place at the Grand People's Study House on October 29 to mark 2018 World Day for Audiovisual Heritage. In this regard, Kim Yong Ae, section chief of the Grand People's Study House in the DPRK, said at the workshop that the DPRK is well preserving and using world's heritages under the cooperation with UNESCO. Thanks to the state measure, the world's heritages are being preserved and used in their original state. The work to rescue the exemplar of the old historical book "Rijo Silok" (Chronicles of the Feudal Joson Dynasty) was conducted with success during the last Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), and valuable world's heritages have been collected and adjusted on a nationwide scale under the measure taken by the state on thoroughly protecting the remains and relics including historical records and books of national treasure. The DPRK amended and supplemented the law on the protection of national heritage adopted before in order to protect and manage well the precious cultural heritages of the nation. As the ownership transfer of historic heritages illegally drained out abroad was denied and the right to retake it was instituted by law, the work to discover and collect the national heritages in various countries has been conducted widely. A number of world's heritages, which have been discovered and collected since Korea's liberation, are safely preserved at major libraries and museums including the Grand People's Study House. In October last year, national classic book "Mu Ye Do Bo Tong Ji" was registered as the world's heritage at UNESCO. A workshop of world's heritage was held on October 24-26 to mark the 2018 World Day for Audiovisual Heritage in cooperation between the DPRK and UNESCO Beijing Office. The workshop dealt with the issues arising in realizing UNESCO recommendation for preservation of and access to the documentary heritage including digital forms, while disseminating the experience and knowledge made in various countries in the preservation of and access to audiovisual heritage. The DPRK is pushing forward the work for digitization of old rare collections. |
