According to Ri Kwang Sop, an official of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the appearance of the country has been spruced up through the nationwide spring and autumn general mobilization drive for land management launched every year since Juche 85 (1996).

During this year's autumn general mobilization drive, more than 520 kilometer-long roads were technically improved and several hundred kilometer-long river banks, 20-odd kilometer-long anti-tidal dykes and at least 100 bridges were repaired throughout the country to ensure security and cultural refinements.
