Successes Achieved in Protection of Cultural Heritages in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 30 (KCNA) -- Successes have been achieved in the protection and development of excellent cultural heritages associated with history and tradition of the Korean nation. The historical sites and relics have been restored thanks to the patriotic desire of the people across the country. Restored to the original state were Mannyon Temple in Kusong City, Woljong Temple in Anak County and Anbul Temple in Kumya County visited by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il. Eight buildings of Sokwang Temple in Kosan County were restored to their original state. Working people in Jaeryong County planted trees and repaired the roads to add beauty to a landscape of Mt Jangsu and a three-storied Suhang Tower in Onsong County was restored to its original state. A brisk work took place for unearthing, collecting, examining and inscribing heritages and intangible heritages. This year witnessed the inscription of the site of Kwangbok Temple and a mural tomb in Jangsuwon-dong. More than 20 objects including folk song "Yangsando", shuttlecock game, bean-curd making, earthenware manufacturing method, Kumgangsan legend and Koryo medicinal dietary cure have recently been inscribed as national and local intangible heritages. Ryongaksan spring water, Kumgang spring water, Kumya Korean poplar and Anhak-dong semi-cultivation beans were listed as natural monuments of the DPRK this year. A dynamic work was conducted for refurbishing history museums across the country in keeping with the people's cultural requirement and the trend of the era. The Sariwon History Museum added many historical relics and data to the outdoor and indoor show rooms after giving face-lifting to the interior and exterior of the museum building and the Kanggye History Museum secured equipment necessary for the preservation and management of the historical relics. |
