Zaher al Khatib, secretary general of the Lebanon Federation of Workers and chairman of the Lebanese Committee for Support to the Reunification of Korea, was elected chairman of the remembrance committee.

The committee decided to hold political and cultural events praising Chairman Kim Jong Il's exploits to mark the 7th anniversary of his demise.
