Present there were delegations and delegates of communist and workers' parties from at least 70 countries, including the delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

Speeches were made there.

The head of the WPK delegation in his speech referred to the achievements of the WPK and the Korean people in building a powerful socialist nation and ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula under the guidance of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. He also cited the justice of the new strategic line of the WPK.

Delegates of parties of various countries including the Hungarian Workers' Party and the Brazilian Communist Party highly appreciated the positive efforts of the WPK, adding that the struggle of the WPK for building a powerful socialist nation makes a positive contribution to strengthening the international communist movement.

A solidarity statement of communist parties and workers' parties was adopted at the meeting to support the just cause of the WPK and the Korean people for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea and ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula.

The statement welcomed a new phase of peace and reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula recently created by the positive efforts of the WPK and the Korean people for improving the north-south relations, establishing permanent peace-keeping mechanism and putting an end to the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK.

It stressed that the just cause of the Workers' Party and people of Korea for defending peace and security on the peninsula and building a powerful socialist nation serves as a positive contribution to the struggle of the communist and workers' parties for ensuring international justice and peace and victoriously advancing the cause of socialism on a world-wide scale.

It resolutely rejected the moves of the imperialists who interfere in the internal affairs of the Korean nation and persist in the unjust sanctions and pressure upon the DPRK and strongly demanded the U.S. withdraw forever the hostile policy toward the DPRK and military threat against it.

And an appeal on strengthening the joint action for expressing mutual support and solidarity among communist and workers' parties and progressive peoples was adopted.
