S. Koreans Protest against U.S. Intimidation

Pyongyang, December 21 (KCNA) -- Civic and social organizations of south Korea including the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Association of Reservists for Peace of south Korea, the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy and the Solidarity for Progress held a press conference outside the U.S. military base in Ryongsan on December 17 in protest against the U.S. unreasonable intimidation, according to reports from south Korea.

The U.S. forces command in south Korea made threatening remarks that south Korean workers in the U.S. military bases might be axed with no money paid if the negotiations on the increase of upkeep for the GIs in south Korea fail to come to a settlement for the sake of the U.S., speakers said.

They termed it base intimidation to realize the demand by violating the vital rights of workers.

They urged the U.S. forces command in south Korea to immediately retract the illegal and impudent demand for the increase of the upkeep for the GIs and apologize to the workers.
