Kim Jong Suk, Warm-hearted Woman Commander of Mt Paektu
Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- December 24 of this year is the 101st birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk, woman commander of Mt Paektu.

Contained in President Kim Il Sung's reminiscences "With the Century" are a lot of stories telling about her warm tenderness.

Among them are stories about a red woollen belt and a blanket showing her kindness during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

When the anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk was going to return to her unit after her underground activities in the Taoquanli of China, a member of its women's association kept following her without any thought of returning home.

After repeated attempts to dissuade her coming with her, Kim Jong Suk put her silver ring on the woman's finger and untied the woman's red belt and tied it her own waist and said that she would not forget the dear people in Taoquanli until the belt is worn out to the last thread. True to her promise, Kim Jong Suk wore the red woollen belt under her uniform all the time after her return to the unit.

In this regard, the President wrote in his reminiscences that she always lived, cherishing the warmth of the people in the body along with her belt and that her soul was never separated from the people.

Kim Jong Suk had used one blanket with much affection in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle. But, she gave this blanket without hesitation to a young woman guerrilla departing from her, saying: It is not a new one, but don't forget that it carries my warmth, the warmth of your elder sister, who has loved you so much.

Recalling this fact, Kim Il Sung wrote that Kim Jong Suk said she was happier to give than to receive and it was her philosophy of life that she was much happier giving her tender feelings to others than receiving other's tender feelings, although the latter was also good.
