Ri Pong Sik was born in Cholwon County, Kangwon Province. He lived in grief, being a member of the stateless nation, before the liberation of the country. After the liberation of the country, he graduated from a university under the care of President Kim Il Sung. And then he became a teacher at Kim Chaek University of Technology, where he devoted himself to education of the rising generation and scientific researches for scores of years.

He trained talents playing important role in the sci-tech development and economic construction of the country, elaborated new subjects of study and wrote dozens of textbooks, reference books and scientific treatises.

He was awarded a watch bearing the august name of President Kim Il Sung and the citation of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Kim Chung Hyok has also dedicated himself to education and scientific researches.

He was born into a family of a worker. He has fulfilled his responsibility and role as a pathfinder of the era of the knowledge-based economy out of the single will to live up to the care of the Party which made sure that he studied at Hamhung University of Hydraulic Engineering.

He gave solution to difficult sci-tech problems arising in the building of large-scale power stations of the country and production of custom-built equipment and vinalon and was honored with high state commendations.
