Japan's Crimes Committed During Imjin Patriotic War in Korea
Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- During the Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598), the Japanese aggressors destroyed and plundered a large quantity of cultural assets and adducted many persons well-versed in science and technology to hinder the economic and cultural development of Korea.

In particular, they regarded it as the most valuable "loot" to capture talented persons during the war.

On the order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, warlord of the Japanese aggressors, they launched "hunting" and "abducting" operations against the Korean people from the beginning of the war.

As a result, more than 100 000 talented persons and ordinary people in the fields of science and technology like architecture, ceramic workmanship, type-casting and printing, and spinning and weaving were forcibly taken to Japan.

Those abducted Koreans made a big contribution to the development of Japan's philosophy, Buddhism, medical science, literature, ceramic workmanship and the spinning industry.

Aritayaki and Satsumayaki, ceramics regarded as treasures in Japan, were also made by abducted Korean ceramists.

The grave of 800 Korean ceramists is in Imari City of Japan. And the famous ceramists of Japan are descendants of Korean ceramists.

The Imjin Patriotic War ended with the victory of the Korean people in November 1598, but the lack of talented persons and manpower impeded the development of science and technology in Korea.

Indeed, the atrocities committed by Japan against the Korean nation during the war are hideous state-sponsored crimes which can not be found in human history.
