Japanese Reactionaries' Arms Buildup Blasted

Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The Japanese authorities adopted a new defense guidelines program and a five-year Midterm Defense Capability Buildup Outline. In this regard, Japanese politicians insisted upon the need to possess "many-sided combined defense capability" against arms buildup of China and other neighboring countries. Specified in those defense plans are such arms-buildup items as organization of a professional space unit in the "Self-Defense Forces" and remodeling of the escort ship Izumo into an F-35B carrier. The Japanese ruling quarters allotted 5 trillion and 257.4 billion yens as military spending for the fiscal year 2019, the biggest ever. With this, the military spending of Japan has kept all-time records for several consecutive years. A commentary of Rodong Sinmun Monday terms it an open challenge to the international community opposing Japan's lurch to the right and militarization and desiring peace. The commentary continues: The reckless arms buildup of Japan, a war criminal state, proves that it is willing to repeat its past sins. Japan's act is aimed at possessing preemptive offensive forces. Every arms buildup item, whatever it may be, is for the preemptive strike and aggression. As to the name of the escort ship Izumo, it reminds everyone of Japan's ambition for reinvasion. Izumo was the name of a warship notorious for its role in Japan's invasion of China early in the last century. Abe regime's plan for remodeling of the escort ship into a carrier clearly shows its ambition to bring back the militarist past. The way Japan persistently follows is the way to the defeat it suffered in the past. The Japanese ruling quarter should bear in mind that it is an act of driving Japan into an abyss to remain hell-bent on turning Japan into a major military power and realizing its wild ambition for reinvasion at the cost of blood tax paid by its citizens. |
