The 26th Paektusan Prize International Figure Skating Festival for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star and the 30th Mangyongdae Prize International Marathon will take place on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star, the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il (February 16), and the Day of the Sun, the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung (April 15).

The Pyongyang Open Table-Tennis Tournament sponsored by the ITTF will be held in July on a five-day schedule and celebrations for the 20th founding anniversary of the International Martial Art Games Committee and the Autumn Amateur Marathoners Competition in September.

In October there will be the 2019 Asian Juvenile and Junior Weightlifting Championships. During the championships, its participants will compete at ten categories of weights for 120 gold medals. Pyongyang hosted the 2013 Asian Cup and Interclub Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championship.
