Korea has a long history and tradition in magic art.

The magic came into being in the period of the Three Kingdoms (early 3rd century B.C.-middle 7th century A.D.). It was developed on the basis of scientific principles during the Koryo Kingdom (918-1392).

The historical book "History of Koryo Kingdom" and a poem written by literary man of Koryo Ri Saek say that stunt performers put such items as fire-eating, knife-eating and belching out fire on the stage.

In the period of the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910), the magic was further diversified.

"Yongjo Sillok" (Chronicles of King Yongjo) wrote about the unknotting, puzzle and money trick.

But the development of the magic was extremely hindered due to the Japanese imperialist aggressors' moves for obliterating the national culture of Korea.

Today the national magic has developed into an acrobatic event, admired by the world people, under the wise leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
