The association is a non-permanent organization which superintends all the works related to insam, including cultivation, purchase, processing and export, in a unified way.

Kim Kwang Hae, director of the Korea Kaesong Koryo Insam Trading Company who is secretary of the association, told KCNA:

Korean insam has been well known to the world for its special medicinal properties from long ago. The association will contribute to promoting the people's health by decisively enlarging the cultivation area and increasing the output of insam, a special product of the country, and by putting its processing on a more scientific basis.
