Yehia Zakaria Khairullah, co-chairman of the Arab Regional Committee for Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People and vice-chairman of the Socialist Freedom Party of Egypt, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee set the celebration period from Jan. 17 to Feb. 16 and decided to hold colorful political and cultural events in praise of the revolutionary career and feats of Kim Jong Il in the period.
