Last year, leading iron producers of the country established the Juche-based iron production system with domestic raw materials and fuel, not depending on coke.

Iron producers across the country are now pushing ahead with the work to introduce the electromagnetic induction agitation technology into continuous ingoting process. The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex has propelled a work for producing various steel sheets by applying a new technology to cold-rolled steel production system.

A ferromanganese furnace with large capacity was newly built at the Puryong Ferroalloy Factory to provide a foundation for increasing ferroalloy production. And a work is going on at various metal factories and enterprises to increase the production of ferromanganese based on low-grade wad.

Meanwhile, a work has been pushed forward at the Musan Mining Complex and iron mines in western part of the country to boost the production.

And the Hungnam Electrode Factory has striven to expand the capacity for producing electrode, and fireproof material mines including the Ramjong Mine are increasing the production of fireproof materials.
