The book, which was launched at the proposal of President Kim Il Sung and under his leadership, is the first political news book of the DPRK like a dictionary.

After seeing its first issue on January 26, Juche 38 (1949), the President was very pleased with the fact that a good present for the people who turned out in building a new country was provided, saying that it would be good to edit the book better in the future and issue it every year.

Chairman Kim Jong Il indicated the orientation and way for editing the book as a comprehensive book of political affairs with firm Juche backbone.

The book has been spread worldwide as a source of historical data of national significance every year, demonstrating its appearance of the Juche-oriented publication which actively contributes to modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and achieving global independence.

A meeting took place on Friday to mark the anniversary.
