Torsten Schoevitz, chairman of the German Communist Party, and the chairman of the Anti-Imperialist Forum of Germany were respectively elected chairmen of the preparatory committees.

The committees decided to organize various political and cultural events in praise of the revolutionary career and feats of Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star.
