The Pusan Headquarters of the Movement for Uprooting Deep-seated Evils and Realizing Great Social Reforms held a press conference outside the building of the U.S. Consulate in Pusan on January 25 in which it said it was an anachronistic act going against the atmosphere for peace that the U.S. presses for increase in the upkeep of its forces at a time when the south and the north promised to take measures to ease military tensions and substantially remove the danger of a war on the Korean peninsula and have worked to implement it.

If the U.S. does not retract its brigandish demand, it will face all-people protest, the organisation warned

The South Kyongsang Provincial Progressive Federation said that the U.S. demand for the increased upkeep of its forces was aimed to suck the blood and sweets of the people who work at the risk of their lives and infringe upon the sovereignty of south Korea under the pretext of alliance.
