Chongryon Officials Back Appeal of DPRK

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Vice-Chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) Nam Sung U released a statement on January 31 in support of the appeal adopted at the joint conference of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK reflecting the unanimous desire and will of the entire Korean nation to keep writing a proud history of national reconciliation, unity, peace and prosperity.

The statement said:

A way for the existence of the nation and a bright future of Koreans in Japan lie in thoroughly adhering to and comprehensively implementing the historic Panmunjom Declaration and the September Pyongyang Joint Declaration as indicated by the appeal adopted at the joint conference.

Chongryon and Koreans in Japan will accelerate the nation-wide march for reunification holding aloft the slogan "Let us usher in a heyday of peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula by thoroughly implementing the historic north-south declarations!"

Chongryon will strengthen the solidarity among the people in north and south and overseas, reject and oppose any challenge and obstruction for checking the implementation of the north-south declarations and make a tangible contribution to opening a broad avenue to north-south exchange and cooperation and co-prosperity of the nation.

It will make sincere efforts to find out a proposal for peaceful reunification based on the agreement of the entire nation and to implement it and will encourage all the Koreans in Japan to join in a sacred struggle to bring a heyday of peace, prosperity and reunification irrespective of the differences in idea, political view, organisation and affiliation as a member of the nation.
