Seen at the venue of the festival are images of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il with a broad smile on their faces, who wish for brighter future of socialist Korea

On display are tens of thousands of potted Kimjongilias cultivated by many units, including ministries, national institutions and armed forces organs, working people and youth and schoolchildren.

Immortal flowers cultivated with much care by overseas compatriots' organizations including the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, overseas Koreans, diplomatic missions of various countries and international bodies here, friendship and solidarity organizations and personages of different countries are also on display.

Present at the opening ceremony were Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Pak Thae Song, vice-chairman of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, Jon Kwang Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials of the festival organizing committee, ministries, national institutions and armed forces organs, members of the associations for disseminating the immortal flower, servicepersons, overseas compatriots including the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan for celebrating the Day of the Shining Star and foreigners.

At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the festival venue.
