A meeting of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) took place in the Sangwon Cement Complex, meeting of agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea in the Migok Cooperative Farm in Sariwon City and meeting of officials and members of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea at the Hall of Women.

Present at the events were Ri Il Hwan, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, officials and members of the working people's organizations and other working people.

At the meetings, reporters and speakers said that February 16 when Chairman Kim Jong Il was born as the Shining Star of Mt Paektu is the day of great fortune of the nation when a rosy future was opened up for the cause of the Juche revolution and the day of great event of world historical significance that guaranteed a bright future of the human cause of independence.

They noted that after embarking upon the road of revolution in his early years with a far-reaching will to glorify the country, Kim Jong Il demonstrated the dignity of Juche Korea all over the world with his extraordinary political caliber and leadership ability and performed immortal exploits on behalf of the times and humankind.

They stressed that the DPRK will shine as the country of the eternal sun thanks to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who is faithfully carrying forward the noble will and desire of Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Il always live in the hearts of the Korean people.
