S. Korean LKP's Insult to Kwangju Popular Uprising under Fire

Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- Some days ago, coteries of the Liberal Korea Party (LKP) in south Korea held a "public hearing for probe into the truth behind May 18 uprising" with the attendance of ultra-right conservative writers at the "National Assembly", in which they made invectives branding the Kwangju Popular Uprising as a "riot by a special unit from the north" and the bereaved families of the uprising victims as "monster group produced by the leftist forces following the north". And they praised traitor Chun Doo Hwan, a homicidal maniac who turned Kwangju into a sea of blood, as a "hero" and drove civic and social group members protesting against it out of the "National Assembly". Terming it a hysteria that could be made only by the treacherous group, quite indifferent to democracy and inveterate in confrontation with the fellow countrymen, Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a commentary says: The LKP coteries' severe insult to the Kwangju Popular Uprising by distorting the historical fact can never be pardoned. The Kwangju Popular Uprising in May 1980 was a righteous resistance for realizing democracy of the society against the fascist dictatorship. Nevertheless, the traitors described the uprising as a "riot" instigated by someone and praised traitor Chun Doo Hwan, merciless killer of resistance fighters, as a "hero". Their reckless behaviors are an unbearable challenge to the south Korean people demanding democracy and unpardonable outrage on justice and truth. The LKP coteries revealed by themselves that they are the descendant of the Chun Doo Hwan military fascist clique and strangler of democracy and the LKP is a blood-thirsty group. |
