Rodong Sinmun Hits Out at Japan's Impudent Behavior
Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- Inter-governmental negotiations are going on in the UN arena for the reform of the UN Security Council.

Amid a hot debate on the key matters like the increase of permanent member states of the UNSC, Japan has engaged in a sly job to rank among those states.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a commentary terms Japan's behavior utterly impudent.

The commentary says:

Japan is casting a covetous eye on the post of UNSC permanent member, unaware of where it is standing.

Among the war criminal nations, only Japan has failed to properly atone for its crime-woven past.

In the first half of the last century, Japan invaded Korea and other Asian countries and provoked the Pacific War. Then, the flames of the Second World War spilled over into the Asia-Pacific region.

Japan, which has neither admitted nor atoned for its past crimes, is going so shameless as to seek the status of a permanent member state of the UNSC whose mission is to preserve global peace and security. This is just an open disregard for the UN Charter and an insult and challenge to human conscience.

Though it is originally ineligible, Japan has gone so impudent as to have an eye on such high status, only to be derided by the world public.

Japan left scars in the hearts of the Asian people by committing hideous inhumane crimes against them. Such wound is hard to be healed and will remain generation after generation.

So, what Japan is obliged to do now is to acknowledge its state and legal responsibility for the crimes and make a sincere apology and reparation.
