|
Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- Bean curd making is one of the national intangible heritages showing the wisdom of the Korean nation. From long ago, the Korean people have eaten a dish made of ground bean. In the course, they made bean curd by taking advantage of curdling feature of bean and used it in their dietary life. In Hamgyong provincial area of the country there was a custom of putting blocks of bean curd on wedding table, and this custom is believed to be handed down from the period of Koguryo Kingdom (B.C. 277-A.D. 668). The method of making bean curd was further developed in the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392) to turn it into a popular dish. Seen in books published at that time are poems on bean curd. In the period of the feudal Joson dynasty (1392-1910), bean curd became more diversified and its making method was known to neighboring countries. Written in the "Chronicles of the Feudal Joson Dynasty" is that a king of a neighboring country was moved to admiration at bean curd. The bean curd making was registered as a national intangible heritage last year. |
