Rodong Sinmun in an article says that a century passed after the uprising and the mountains and rivers changed, but the spirit of the independence and sovereignty of the participants in the March First Popular Uprising still remains alive in the hearts of the fellow countrymen and encourages the entire nation to a just patriotic struggle for independence and reunification. It goes on:

The struggle of the Korean nation for complete independence and sovereignty of the country and nation against the aggression and domination of outsiders has not yet been finished.

Japan runs amuck to grab Tok Island, an inviolable territory of Korea, and swallow up the whole of Korea, persisting in the old dream of "the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" and hostile policy toward the DPRK. It is adding double and treble new crimes to its hideous crimes of the past. The Korean nation will never allow it.

The Japanese authorities should have a good knowledge of the trend of the times in which a new climate of peace created in the Korean Peninsula gives a great impetus to the international political arena and balance of force rapidly changes in the region, and make an apology and reparation for the past hideous crimes against humanity for themselves as early as possible.

Firm is the will of the Korean nation not to turn over historical responsibility for general settlement of the past crimes to the next generation.

Minju Joson also in an article notes that the complete sovereignty of the nation for which the participants in the uprising wished and shouted out has not been realised.

All the fellow countrymen in north, south and abroad should get close united with one mind and intention under the banner of national independence to build a dignified and prosperous reunified powerful nation in this land as early as possible.
